How to Apply


Submit an application form via online 

Due to COVID-19 Pandemic,  the rules have been adjusted

  • All participants are required to submit a YouTube link or a video file with the application

  • Virtual auditions on JANUARY 23 – 24, 2021

Rules and Regulations



  • When applying for more than one competition, category or instrument, each requires a separate application form and fee

  • It is your responsibility to check the deadlines for application forms and YouTube link/Video file submissions.

  • Applications or submissions will not be accepted after the deadline

  • The age is determined by the day of the audition

  • All fees are non refundable


  • Auditions will be held VIRTUALLY amid COVID-19 Pandemic

  • Time limitation is 10 minutes for both audition and performance



  • No concert fee for the 1st place winners but mandatory Live Performance Copyright Fee will be required ($100)

  • Virtual Winners Concert fee for 2nd and 3rd Winners is $150

  • Honorable Mention Winners will receive a certificate only

  • Rehearsal schedules with CNJ orchestra for the 1st place concerto competition winners will be announced individually through e-mail

  • There is NO CHANGING of repertoire under any circumstances

  • Performance time limit is 10 minutes. There is an extended performance time fee of $100 per minute

Repertoire Requirements



  • One movement only (for both audition & recital)

  • All auditions must be performed from memory with no exception

  • Repertoire must gain approval from us. Please contact before apply

  • There is NO CHANGING of repertoire under any circumstances


  • No arranged music

  • Applicant may choose one piece from the standard repertoire (baroque, classical, romantic or contemporary) for the audition

  • One movement of a sonata could be accepted as one piece

  • All auditions must be performed from memory with the exception of contemporary pieces (post 1960 - present), chamber music and sonata pieces (except piano sonata)

  • No repeats should be taken at either audition or concert

  • There is NO CHANGING of repertoire under any circumstances



  • Ensemble category: Limit of 8 people per group

  • Concerto two or more category: Limit of 4 people per group

  • There is NO CHANGING of repertoire under any circumstances



  • Participants are strongly recommended to record a video with their own accompanist and bring the accompanist to the concert

  • A hire list of local accompanists will be provided via e-mail once requested


Travel Expenses

  • Participants are responsible for their own travel expenses





  • The following CASH PRIZES are awarded to three individuals/ensembles within the entire competition

    Grand Prize        $2,000 sponsored by CNJ Foundation

    Gold Prize          $1,000 sponsored by Main Violin

    Silver Prize         $500    sponsored by NV Factory


  • All 1st place Winners of all categories will receive certificates, medals and $100 NV Recording Studio Voucher 

  • 1st place Winners from the CONCERTO category will have the opportunity to perform with the CNJ orchestra at Winners Recording/Virtual Concert at The DiMenna Center in NYC

  • 1st place Winners from the Solo and Ensemble category will have the opportunity to perform at Winners Recording/Virtual Recital at The DiMenna Center in NYC



  • All 2nd & 3rd place Winners will receive certificates and medals 

  • 2nd & 3rd place SOLO category winners have the opportunity to perform at OPTIONAL Winners Recording/Virtual Concert at NV Factory, Englewood Cliffs, NJ  

  • 2nd & 3rd place CONCERTO category Winners will perform with their own piano accompanist at OPTIONAL Winners Recording/Virtual Concert at NV Factory, Englewood Cliffs, NJ

  • Concert fee for 2nd and 3rd is $150



  • Honorable mention Winners will receive certificates only

All Certificates & medals will be mailed to mailing address regardless of concert participation amid COVID-19

2nd & 3rd place WINNERS OPTIONAL VIRTUAL CONCERT – MARCH 6, 2021 at 5 PM

  • Concert (Recording) fee for 2nd and 3rd is $150 includes a professional video file of each performance and a link to YouTube livestream

  • Dates for recording session: To be announced

  • Each participant will perform the audition piece which will be video recorded live at NV Factory without an audience

  • 2nd and 3rd place winners virtual concert will be livestreamed on YouTube on March 6, 2021

Grand Prize YouTube voting!

To determine the Grand, Gold and Silver Prize winners:

  • Each performance of the 1st place winners at the Winners Recital will be video recorded and uploaded on FEBRUARY 25, 2021 to our YouTube channel

  • The online YouTube voting will then last for one week (FEBRUARY 25 - MARCH 3). All voting will take place on our competition website

  • The final winners will be determined with 70% of the judges' score from the audition and 30% of the YouTube "like" counts

  • Final results will be announced through our website on MARCH 5 , 2021
